I-SEAMORE showcased at IBMATA Border Management Technologies Summit Europe 2025

The I-SEAMORE project partner, Spanish Tax Agency (AEAT), recently participated in the prestigious IBMATA Border Management & Technologies Summit Europe 2025, held from June 4th to 6th in Tallinn. The summit served as a crucial platform for showcasing the innovative technology developed within the I-SEAMORE project, designed to enhance the European Union’s response to irregular migration and illegal trafficking at its borders.

The IBMATA annual summit gathers government leaders, border officials, technology experts, and industry professionals to deliberate on advancements and challenges in border management. This year’s focus centered on the integration of innovative technologies like biometrics, artificial intelligence (AI), automation, and data analysis to bolster security and efficiency at border checkpoints, particularly in the face of organized crime, terrorism, and irregular migration.

AEAT’s presence at the summit, representing the I-SEAMORE project, facilitated valuable engagement with European and global leaders in border security, technology, and policy. This interaction provided an opportunity to explore the latest trends, innovations, and challenges in managing Europe’s border systems, and to share the collective concern regarding the detection and management of irregular and illicit traffic.

Attendees had the opportunity to visit various exhibition booths and witness presentations of products from leading companies specializing in trade and security control technologies. These presentations showcased advanced solutions such as real-time facial recognition systems for citizens and vehicles, travel applications for pre-identification to facilitate smoother border crossings, physical perimeter security barriers for land and sea, and advanced scanning of vehicle cargo.

A significant outcome of AEAT’s participation was the dissemination of information brochures on the I-SEAMORE project and its “Citizens’ Awareness and Acceptance of EU Maritime Security Systems” survey.

The I-SEAMORE project promises to be a game-changer for EU Member State Operations Coordination Centers. By developing a digital platform that integrates diverse information sources from deployed assets in areas of interest (including maritime media and unmanned aerial vehicles), open data, fusion of satellite-based data, AI-powered products, and interoperability with existing external Big Data and Key Analysis systems, I-SEAMORE will enable optimal decision-making and resource optimization in the control and management of irregular immigration and illicit narcotic substance trafficking by sea.

The project’s participation in the IBMATA Summit marks a significant step towards a more secure and efficient European border landscape!
